Stump removal via digging is, indeed, a strategy that can be used. It won’t suit most circumstances, however. The largest issue is the sheer size of the ‘crater’ a stump can leave- the roots often occupy 4 to 7 times the size of the actual stump. As you can imagine, that’s quite a hole! It’s also prone to leaving viable pieces of the root system behind, which can lead to regeneration.
While 90% of the time stump grinding is the favoured route, we do have the decades of experience in arborist matters and stump removal. We know when to advise you to different methods, so rest assured we will always have the greater success of your project in mind.
